College students volunteer in China-LAC Business Summit

Hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the People's Government of Beijing Municipality and the People's Bank of China, and organised by the China Chamber of International Commerce and the Beijing Sub-council of CCPIT, the 16th China-LAC Business Summit was held at the National Convention Centre in Beijing on 2-3 Nov, 2023. 


The volunteer service team from the College, which included postgraduate students Chen Du, Sun Lanxin, Zhao Yuxiang, Chang Jianing, Hao Shiyu, Zhu Yuhan and Liang Linrui, supported the host of the conference in such aspects as guest contacting, venue arrangement, venue services and news coverage, and continued to play a positive role.



The summit was accompanied by the China-LAC Innovation Business Lunch, hosted by the China-LAC Business Entrepreneurs Council and the Spanish, Portuguese and Latin Branch of Western Returned Scholars Association. Since the preparation of the event in May this year, the students had been continuously involved in conference co-ordination, guest contacting, on-site rehearsals and venue services, playing an irreplaceable role in different positions and making a positive contribution for the success of the Summit. The organisers sent a thank-you letter to the College.  



Their full enthusiasm, excellent professional knowledge and ability, good quality of volunteer service were highly praised by the participants. As a group of students who study Latin American law in the official language of the region, their studies, research and social services were also highlighted.



Dignitaries of the events, including Pedro Haces Barba, the Senator of the Mexican Congress & General Secretary of the Federation of Trade Unions, Prof. Ricardo Monreal Avila from the National Autonomous University of Mexico Law School, Ottón Solís Fallas, Professor Emeritus of the IE Business School of Spain & Founder of the Costa Rican Citizens' Action Party & former representative to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, Edmundo GIL-TAVAREZ, Director of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Dominica, and Narshi Solano Quesada, Research Fellow of the Central American Institute for Public Policy talked to the students cordially and took photos with them. They hoped that the students would acquire knowledge, master skills, give full play to the advantages of compound talents and make contributions to the close of exchanges between China and Latin and the building of a community with a shared future between the two sides.
